The Dusty PlayStation
Hi frens,
I’ve heard stories that friends bought game console like PlayStation, but it just ended up being a Netflix machine, or ended up sitting there collecting dust. Now I’m one of them, OMG.
I try to analyze the reasons, and I found that human’s attention is limited resource. Any great experiences require our attention, e.g. family time, playing video games, exercising, investing, and working. However, we spend so much time working, oftentimes overworking!
I remember so vividly that, it seems to originate from our childhood experiences and learnings: As long as I studied or worked harder, the achievement would grow proportionally. As I grow older, I found that it was simply a well-designed educational environment, and the real world doesn’t work in that way. However, we might have taken that experience into our adulthood, and tried working harder even when it led to be a negative cycle, over and over again. What’s worst, the shortsighted capitalism encourages that way.
As individuals, we live within the context of our time and environment, and together they shape the outcomes of our lives. If we don’t enjoy life or find a balance between work and personal expectations, we risk living in vain.
Your friend,
Denken
