Storage on the phone
Hi frens,
Recently I had to remove some apps for more storage. It’s always a pain when your smart devices running out of storage.
Storage is always getting cheaper, but storage on the phone is much more expensive than SD card, solid-state drive (SSD), hard drive, etc. If you compare compare the cost of upgrading storage on an iPhone to the price of an SSD, it’s insane. That’s one of the “brilliant” part of iPhone pricing strategy.
Another legacy product strategy of Steve Jobs era is iCloud services, which has the privilege of syncing data on the iPhone at system level. The free plan comes with 5 GB and it never changes since its introduction 13 years ago. Usually the iPhone user either upgrading the phone or purchasing iCloud plans.
Steve Jobs called Dropbox a “feature, not a product.” A decade later, I feel that Dropbox has been more like a well-established product, but iCloud feels more like a feature. Even if iCloud has been copying features from the cloud storage products, the quality—such as syncing speed and reliability—still seems subpar.
What’s the best option for clearing up storage? Games. Gaming consoles or PCs offer more affordable storage options and better gaming experience compared to mobile devices.
I wish I could play more games instead of worrying about storage issues.
Your friend,
Denken
