Quadratic Voting in FAB DAO
Hi frens,
Recently, I’m starting an experiment for “quadratic voting” inside Formosa Art Bank DAO (FAB DAO). My goal goes beyond methodology. Let me elaborate on that.
Here’s the proposal: I took out 100 Tezos, buying one NFT every week, with the decision-making governed by quadratic voting among Green Sofa members. This process will help us better understand how it works.
If you’re interested, I’m keeping the voting records in this document. By the way, Craft is way better than the popular Notion, in terms of mobile app usability.
The idea and “Green Sofa” group started from GreenPill encouraged us to initiate a local network. This became my starting point of involving in FAB DAO governance.
Quadratic voting didn’t originate from GreenPill. And Snapshot.org has comprehensive documentation on various voting types, including weighted voting and quadratic voting. Simply put, quadratic voting emphasizes majority “preference”.
That’s the key reason I’m pushing quadratic voting in FAB DAO, where synchronous online meetings and consensus decision-making play major roles. It works pretty well when all key members participate in the meeting, share their opinions, and decisions are reached. However, overall progress can be slow or even delayed under some circumstances.
I’m experimenting in a different way. Periodical quadratic voting could be great for some routine decisions. I’m also interested in exploring how asynchronous voting and communication, which are my preferred methods of connection, could contribute to FAB DAO.
Your friend,
Denken
