Hi frens,
Let’s chat about Podcasting.
There are two things I’ve learned through doing podcast shows.
The first: Sustainable Podcast planning is hard, and that also applies to all content creation. I remembered when I was doing my first podcast show with my friend after work, but I eventually had to stop because I was burned out from my job.
That experience leads to my following projects prioritizing sustainability, Web3Matters Weekly and this Tritsch-Tratsch Letter. I'm also planning to build a podcast within Web3Matters Weekly.
The second: Microphone matters, and that also applies to online meetings. Although wireless headphones with mic are state-of-the-art, their sound quality cannot match that of standalone microphones. This is similar to how smartphone photography cannot match the quality of a DSLR.
As for podcast apps, Overcast was superior in terms of innovative features like Smart Speed and Voice Boost. However, other podcast apps (including Apple Podcasts) have caught up with the same features. Nowadays we’ve seen several new Podcast apps featuring AI capabilities, like Snipd. Will AI capabilities be worth paying for, or will they eventually become on-device features? We’ll see.
Your friend,
