How much should a logo cost?

Web3Matters Weekly has announced a logo design contest, initiated by myself. Total prize went from 780 DAI to 630 DAI.

I personally have been very confused about how to set the price for a logo. Nike had its logo for $35 in 1971. Steve Jobs’ NeXT computer had its logo for $100,000 in 1986. Is there any reasonable pricing range for a logo design?

I remembered seeing contact of iconfactory (a well-known iOS app icon design company), the second least budget range started from $5K. That’s a lot for a community like us!

I decided to host a design contest with rules carefully crafted for both acquiring intellectual property rights and fostering participation.

The trust chain starts from six editors. Every editor recommends one logo project, with $30 guaranteed.

The next trust is based on Matters Travelogger holders, one NFT with one vote to distribute $300. With 6 logos, every logo could get additional $50 at average. The voting power has been quite distributed throughout the community, which seems rare in the NFT community field.

Finally, we will pay out yet additional $150 for the winner and acquire the intellectual property rights only from the winner.
