GreenPill × Octant Community Round
Hi frens,
Have you ever donated to charities, perhaps around tens of US dollars? In the web3 space, even a small donation of a few dollars can trigger “matching funds” to contribute an additional tens of dollars!
We’re in one such funding round, GreenPill × Octant Community Round. We would be grateful to have your support. Here’s the project “Green Sofa” I’ve been deeply involved, and you can look at 7 projects I’ve donated. Thanks mnhsu.eth of Blocktrend for supporting us as well, you may look at what projects he has donated.
Today I would like to share where does those additional “matching funds” come from. There must be some organization donating a great amount to establish a matching fund. In this round, it’s Octant, and they’ve donated 10 ETH in the matching funds. That is worth 34,720 USD today!
The scale may sound “tiny” compared with the traditional charity world, but good enough for emerging small groups like us.
So where does Octant make money from? On its Twitter, it said:
We staked 100,000 ETH and are on a mission to financially empower both public good projects and our community in a sustainable way.
100,000 ETH, valued at approximately 350 million US dollars! Even with a modest reward rate of 3%, this would generate around 10.5 million US dollars annually from staking.
In this context, it’s like a traditional foundation managing a treasury and distributing the generated interest.
