Distributing funds

Hi frens,

What would you do if you had some funds to distribute?

Would you give them to your close friends or partners? To someone you know who is great? Set some rules for judgment? Or let someone else decide?

That has been a tough question for us since we raised resources through Web3 public goods funding. We were never well-prepared for situations like this, and I wonder if other so-called “managers” are.

At Green Sofa, with just around one thousand US dollars, we aim to experiment and be open in the wild. Rooted from the open source culture, we’re working with open culture both in the web3 world and in my current job.

Furthermore, we have a specific funding round called “Web3 Grants Ecosystem Advancement Round”, gathering all initiatives and showing our progress. Read my note if you’re interested.

However, that’s not how the real world works, with much larger funds and bureaucracy. Subtlety in the dark. Power in the light. People making decisions are often not the one executing. That’s why I’ve consistently avoided working with mid-to-large organizations. Til recently.
