Decentralized connection
Hi frens,
Can we have nice connection experience between different platforms? I mean, Threads claims to support Fediverse but still limited. We had a golden age of RSS reader with blogs. Nowadays, every app is an isolated island. The only universal app for accessing different platforms is web browser.
I remember blogs aimed to connect through features like pingback and trackback. It never works very well and isn’t sustainable to spam. Ultimately centralized social platforms have better mechanisms dealing with spams, at least at the early stage.
Now it comes to “decentralized” social platforms and web3, again. Do we have better mechanism dealing with spams? Unfortunately, probably no. Even those centralized platforms suffer.
We have to trust something to build a reliable connection, from a local community to some anti-spam mechanism. To build a better decentralized future, we need a better trust model. But how?
I used to believe web3 communities serve a new trust model. Social interactions are inherently distributed, and web3 tools like NFTs, enable the formation and recognition of communities. Unfortunately, most communities lose momentum without sufficient capital.
We need to continue building tools and form new communities effectively, which shall bring trust and connection for us.
Your friend,
Denken
