Hi frens,
What unique feature does blockchain technology offer? Publicly verifiability, in my opinion.
With publicly verifiable ledgers, cryptocurrency and Bitcoin was born. It’s the first and probably still the only practical use case so far.
With publicly verifiable software, smart contract and Ethereum was born. Lots of applications are developed upon this foundation.
What else? Why couldn’t we have more nice things on blockchain? Or, we sometimes make fun that all products can be built without blockchain. So why bothers?
Blockchain is a new tool for rebuilding trust. We’re not rebuilding trust yet, or, should we?
If you're curious about blockchain's potential applications across various fields, I highly recommend “The Truth Machine: The Blockchain and the Future of Everything”. It offers a comprehensive overview with a honest perspective.
However, most blockchain applications are still like having a hammer to treat everything as if it were a nail. Without market needs, there will be no “mass adoption”. Yet.
Your friend,
Denken
I like that book “The Truth Machine: the Blockchain and the Future of Everything”, too.💗
