Hi frens,
How much of your work involve communication?
When I was a full-time software engineer, communication accounts for only 20% of my work time. And I was mostly working in a startup or a small company, reduce the burden of communicating across a giant engineering team.
Now I’m working more like a software advisor, working with tens of people (or hundreds in a broader sense). Communications now accounts more than 50% of my work time.
I never intend to spend so much time in communicating. I even avoided being a manager or working in a big company to avoid lots of nonsense communication. The reason I’m staying is to help shaping TW Digital Identity Wallet with W3C DID and VC, which are interesting enough.
Let’s say one person working as an individual contributor, communication rarely needed. When there are two people working as a team, the output would not be doubled, but more time would be needed for communication. However, a larger team can generate more output, provided the team develops effective communication. Without it, we’ve seen many teams failed and collapsed, producing little to no meaningful or sustainable results.
Your friend,
Denken
Perfect!
